With a legacy of eight prolific years, The Jaypee Model United Nations is back with another promising edition! The Jaypee Model United Nations is a two-day event that will witness a crowd of around 600 delegates from over 400 schools and colleges across the country. The ninth edition of the conference is scheduled for the 12th and 13th of January 2019. Aiming to surpass all its previous editions, the JMUN 2019 will definitely be bigger and better than all its editions so far.
With five committees and events running simultaneously, the previous editions of the event have been acknowledged as the best MUN conferences in the NCR by some prominent MUNs in the circuit.
THE AFRICAN UNION
The African Union is a continental union consisting of all 55 countries on the continent of Africa. It was established on 26 May 2001 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and launched on 9 July 2002 in South Africa with the aim of replacing the Organisation of African Unity.
Corruption continues to harm Africa, hampering democracy, development and the ability to bring people out of poverty. It is one of the major reasons why the continent ranks lowest amongst global regions in the Corruption Perceptions Index.
UNGA DISEC
The United Nations General Assembly is one of the six principal organs of The United Nations. Simulating this committee in The JMUN 2019, we aim to focus on the role of science and technology in disarmament and international security.
The growing advancement in science and technology is both a boon and a bane to the world. If used wisely, technology can play a major role in strengthening the boundaries of countries without the employment of huge weapons on the borders. But if used mindlessly, it can lead to disasters such as the Hiroshima and Nagasaki tragedies.
UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL (UNHRC)
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a body of the United Nations whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world. Simulating this committee in JMUN 2019, we aim to focus on the agenda- The Situation in Myanmar.
Myanmar has recently faced rounds of violence and high political tension. Rohingyas, namely the Muslim people living in the Rakhine state have been subject to oppression, marginalisation policies and alleged atrocities. The situation got aggravated when the militants attacked the government forces. The purpose of this committee in JMUN 2019 is to arrive at a viable solution that can be implemented by the Security Council to improve the situation of the country.
LOK SABHA
The Jaypee Model United Nations presents Lok Sabha -a conventional Indian MUN committee which aims to surpass all its peers this year. Come and discover the leader in you along with enhancing your public speaking skills. Moreover, get hands-on experience in critical thinking and research; discuss and negotiate as the committee will focus on an agenda that we’ve all been dying to address: “Key analysis of the three-year action plan with special reference to the fall in rupee value and dwindling agricultural sector.”
WORLD TRADE ORGANISATION
WTO is one of the principal bodies of the UN in this global era. At JMUN 2019, the committee focuses on the review of the IPR regime.
The WTO’s Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), negotiated during the 1986-94 Uruguay Round, introduced intellectual property rules into the multilateral trading system. IPR regime has been a debatable issue ever since. The committee hence will be discussing the very same.
THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS
The international press is responsible for the insights into an event. One of the most sought-after bodies of a Model United Nations conference, not only does it provide glimpses of the happenings of such a grand event but reports its very minute details as well.
